Gerry George - Executive Member (Chair)

Gerry George - Executive Member (Chair)

Gerry has been a full-time member of the Vermont family since 2016. He holds degrees in engineering and arts, as well as a master’s degree in business administration. With experience managing major construction projects and holding director positions in public administration, Gerry brings a wealth of corporate experience to Vermont, equipping him to lead the operations of the home. His drive is to foster a content, connected, and thriving community.

Gary George - Executive Member

Gary has been involved in the family business for over two decades, focusing more exclusively on financial operations in recent years. He holds degrees in engineering and science, a post-graduate degree in education, and has undertaken post-graduate studies in accounting. Gary’s experience in the accounting, engineering, and education sectors, combined with his passion for improving capabilities and processes, is a great asset in our pursuit of excellence.

Sam Pearce - Independent, Non-executive Member

Sam Pearce - Independent, Non-executive Member

Sam Pearce brings a rich background in Banking and Finance, with a focus on Business Development and Community Engagement. After 22 years in the sector, he transitioned to Building and Construction/Property Maintenance. Sam’s personal experience with aged care facilities through his grandparents fuels his passion for serving the elderly community. He is excited to contribute to Vermont Aged Care’s mission and values.

Nisha Goundar - Independent, Non-executive Member

Nisha Goundar - Independent, Non-executive Member

Nisha’s background in Human Resources and Change Management spans various industries, including Technology, Manufacturing, and Engineering. She holds an undergraduate degree and a Master’s in Human Resources. Nisha is passionate about fostering organizational cultures that embody core values, enabling people to thrive and connect with the company’s purpose and each other.

Dr. Eugene D'Souza - Independent, Non-executive Member

Dr. Eugene D'Souza - Independent, Non-executive Member

Dr. Eugene D’Souza, a Geriatric Medicine Advanced Trainee, transitioned from a successful career as a physiotherapist to pursue Medicine. Specialising in Geriatric Medicine at St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, his culturally diverse upbringing shapes his patient-centred approach. Dr. D’Souza is committed to the health and well-being of our ageing population and is dedicated to contributing to Vermont Aged Care’s mission.

Suja Betschel - Clinical Services Manager

Suja Betschel - Clinical Services Manager

Suja joined the Vermont Aged Care family in 2022, overseeing all clinical services across the facility. With decades of experience in aged care—including roles in personal care, nursing, clinical coordination, and facility management—Suja has worked in both family-owned homes and large multi-site organisations. Her expertise enhances Vermont Aged Care’s commitment to providing safe, high-quality care tailored to each resident’s needs. Suja is passionate about engaging with residents and staff daily, dedicated to making a positive impact and enriching the lives of those in her care.

Pretha George - Business Operations Manager

Pretha George - Business Operations Manager

Pretha joined the Vermont family in 2012. She brings almost twenty years of experience as an occupational therapist within various hospital networks, in Australia and abroad. Pretha’s most recent experience has included work in Geriatric Evaluation and Management (GEM). This work heightened her awareness of the needs of our elders – and her passion to support them came to the fore. Pretha now works solely at Vermont, with her dedicated advocacy and support for elders central to her work. Pretha’s overarching goal is to bring meaning and purpose to those who call this community home.

Pauline Pius - Clinical Care Coordinator (First Floor)

Pauline Pius - Clinical Care Coordinator (First Floor)

Pauline joined the Vermont family in 1999 as a registered nurse. She came to Vermont after many years and extensive experience working in various intensive care units, as well as in general medical and surgical wards in hospitals around the globe. Pauline enjoys engaging with people to achieve the best possible holistic service to those who now call Vermont home. Her vast experience in aged care practice, together with her dedication and passion for elders, now see her head up the clinical operations for the home.

Jobin George - Clinical Care Coordinator (Ground Floor)

Jobin George - Clinical Care Coordinator (Ground Floor)

Jobin joined the Vermont family as a carer in 2006 while completing his nursing degree at Deakin University. It was during this role that his passion for caring for elders was confirmed, and he took up a registered nursing post at Vermont shortly thereafter. Jobin has demonstrated a broad set of skills at Vermont, including leading the transition to digital record-keeping for our residents. His personal disposition and technical capability now see him well-placed to undertake the role of Staffing Coordinator. His commitment to best practice and efficient work processes enables him to drive great outcomes for our elders.

Keith Leslie - Catering Service Manager

Keith Leslie - Catering Service Manager

Keith joined the Vermont family with over 40 years of hospitality management experience. As our Catering Service Manager, he is dedicated to enhancing customer satisfaction through his strong focus on quality and service. Keith’s extensive background includes preparing budgets and reports, menu development and design, and ensuring food safety procedures are strictly followed. His ability to work calmly under pressure, combined with his passion for teaching and training, makes him an invaluable asset to our team. Keith’s commitment to excellence and his caring nature ensure that the residents at Vermont Aged Care receive the highest standard of culinary service.

Laura Dundavan - Reception and Administration Coordinator

Laura Dundavan - Reception and Administration Coordinator

Laura joined the Vermont family in 2017 as a Personal Care Assistant, bringing five years of invaluable experience from the UK. In her current role, she leads our Reception and Admin team, ensuring smooth administrative operations and creating a warm, inviting atmosphere for residents and families. Laura is dedicated to exceptional service, fostering a supportive environment where individuals feel valued and cared for. Additionally, she plays a vital role in maintaining optimal staffing ratios and upholding our high standards of care.

Emmanuel Nikupala - Facilities Coordinator

Emmanuel Nikupala - Facilities Coordinator

Manny joined the Vermont family as our go-to Facilities Coordinator and stock coordinator in 2021. With a diverse background in general sales, health insurance, and the energy sector, he brings a wealth of experience and practical know-how to the team. Manny’s passion for serving people shines through in his strong connections with residents and their families. A hands-on problem solver, he loves tinkering with equipment and finding creative solutions to keep everything running smoothly. Always focused on making a positive impact, Manny is dedicated to ensuring the home is a safe, comfortable, and welcoming place for all.
