About Vermont Aged Care

Our History

Our History

Established in 1981, Vermont Aged Care has been a pillar of the Vermont community, providing compassionate and genuine care to our elders. In 1989, Tom and Mary George took over the reins, transforming the facility from a 45-bed facility to the 99-bed home it is today.

Rooted in the George family’s cultural heritage from Kerala, South India, we honour and respect our elders, valuing the wisdom they bring. Despite Mary’s unexpected passing in 2018, Tom continues to provide invaluable wisdom and guidance to the home, drawing on his extensive experience in running aged care including his tenure for over a decade as director on the aged care industry association, complemented by his sales and marketing roles at ASX-listed companies. His sons, Gary and Gerry, now provide executive leadership to the Governance Committee, whilst maintaining the day to day operations, ensuring the legacy of compassionate care continues.

Our expanded leadership team, with over 100 years of combined aged care experience, ensures continuous improvement and a nurturing environment where our elders can live with purpose and satisfaction. At Vermont Aged Care, we are more than a facility; we are a family dedicated to honouring and caring for your loved ones.
